NBA Double Dribble 2/8/08

3 games on the schedule last night and only the Cavs v Rockets looked interesting on paper:

Cavs (27-21) – 77 Rockets (29-20) – 92

LeBron James played great again(32, 7, 6) but he only got help from Big Z as the rest of the Cavs supporting cast (what’s left) just didn’t show up. Not only that, but Daniel Gibson left the game with a hammy injury during the 4th Quarter. If this injury turns out to be serious, the Cavs will have next to nobody left coming off the bench. The Cavs would like NEED to make a trade to make them competitive come playoff time. The Rockets continue to make a push to get into the playoffs with strong play from Yao and the supporting cast. T-Mac played terrible, but he did spend the whole day in the hospital for the flu. The Rockets are 1-0 in the Year of the Rat (look it up).

Chicago Bulls (20-29) – 114 Golden State (29-20) – 108

The Bulls spoiled C-Webb’s return to the Warriors behind the strong play of Chris Duhon and former number 1 pick Joe Smith. C-Webb looked super shy coming back in the NBA, taking the first two shots of the game for the Warriors. The first shot was a botched lay-up, while the second was a patented C-Webb jump shot from just inside the 3 point line that clanged off the front of the rim. Sure is nice to have C-Webb back in the NBA, eh? Interesting fact: After the media circus that surrounded the Bulls early in the season, they pulled into a tie for the 8 spot in the East with the Nets. This would be amazing, but then I realized that this was the Eastern Conference.

Miami Heat (9-39) – 84 Philadelphia 76ers (20-30) – 101

I know this is the second day in a row that I have said this, but the Miami Heat are pitiful. I really don’t have anything to say about this game. D-Wade got his numbers, A.I (not the one in Denver) continues to play well, and Andre Miller still needs to be traded. On another note, Pat Riley was quoted as saying “From a standpoint of how I look at it, with Dwyane and with Shawn (Marion), it reminds me a little bit of the beginning of Jordan and Pippen,” he said. “I think he’s going to mesh very well with Dwyane.”

Wait… WHAT? He can’t be serious.
