Nets and Mavs close in on a Jason Kid deal

(*Updated*) Screw the NBA All Star game. If this deal gets done, every round of the Western Conference Playoffs will be an All Star game in itself!

Happy Days in the Mavs Future?

So it turns out that Mark Cuban may have been blowing smoke up the media’s dress the whole time. The proposed deal would look something like this:

Mavs get:

G Jason Kidd
F Malik Allen OR G Darrell Armstrong

Nets get:

G Devin Harris
G/F Jerry Stackhouse
C DeSagana Diop (expiring contract)
G/F Devean George (expiring contract) * Blocked Trade*
G Maurice Ager
2008 and 2010 First Round Pick
Cash Money!

*UPDATE* Wow! Devean George just totally blocked this trade. Smart guy if you ask me. The trade is probably still going to get done with or without George, AND George gets to stick around on a pretty good team. He has the power… why not use it? *END UPDATE*

I remember at the beginning of the season that the general consensus was that you were not going to be able to roll over the teams in the Eastern Conference this year. Well, THAT lasted a whole two months into the season. Detroit and Boston (maybe Cleveland?) are the only real contenders in the East, while the West has at least 6-9 teams that could be legit contenders. Who said balance is a good thing?
